Case Study: Cheniere Energy achieves higher uptime and smarter maintenance with IBM Maximo Asset Management

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Cheniere Energy Case Study

Seizing new opportunities and supporting business transformation with IBM Maximo Asset Management

Cheniere Energy converted its Sabine Pass terminal from an LNG import/regasification facility to a liquefaction and export operation, creating far more complex, 24/7-critical “train” assets that demanded improved maintenance, inventory and work‑management processes. To address this, Cheniere selected IBM, adopting IBM Maximo Asset Management (IBM Maximo for Oil and Gas) to support its re‑engineered business processes and operational transformation.

IBM, working with implementation partner Cohesive Solutions, deployed Maximo integrated with Oracle Financials and OSIsoft PI Historian in a one‑year parallel EAM/ERP rollout. The solution standardized asset lifecycle processes, delivered over 50 custom reports, automated work‑order routing and improved planning/scheduling and resource assignment—boosting efficiency, maximizing uptime, improving safety and compliance, and reducing maintenance costs while enabling a path to predictive maintenance.
