A IBM Case Study
The Friedhelm Loh Group, a major German engineering company, faced the challenge of optimizing its manufacturing operations to respond faster to customer demands while controlling IT complexity and costs. To prevent delivery delays and maintain its market reputation, the company needed a highly available and performant IT infrastructure to support its central SAP platform.
IBM, through its Business Partner CANCOM, implemented a solution using IBM Power Systems servers, the integrated IBM DB2 for i database, and IBM FlashSystem storage. The results included EUR 100,000 in annual energy savings, a 90% reduction in production planning times, and a fivefold increase in data access speed, which together enabled faster deliveries and more competitive pricing.
