Scalable processing and highly available data help a sports brand go faster

PUMA SE, the global sports brand behind the “Forever Faster” mantra, needed its core database to keep pace with growing digital demand from applications, microservices, and worldwide commerce operations. Running on IBM Db2 with HADR, the company sought greater speed, scalability, and 24x7 availability so it could support new services without risking downtime.

IBM, working with ARS Computer und Consulting, implemented the IBM Db2 pureScale Feature to create a highly scalable cluster environment. The project went live in six months and delivered strong results: load testing showed support for 300%–400% more users and four to five times more users than before on the four-server cluster, with future scale-out to 128 servers. IBM’s solution also improved availability by enabling online maintenance and failover without interrupting business operations.
