Robust ESG insights fuel ambitious sustainability goals

Growthpoint Properties Australia, an ASX‑listed real estate investment trust, faced the challenge of producing transparent, verifiable ESG disclosures across roughly 60 properties while pursuing an ambitious net zero by 2025 target for Scope 1 and 2 emissions. As a public company with mandatory and voluntary reporting requirements (including GRESB) and a large Scope 3 footprint, Growthpoint needed to consolidate siloed data, ensure consistency and completeness, and be able to cut and slice the same dataset for multiple reporting formats — which is where IBM and its Envizi solution came into play.

Using the IBM Envizi ESG Suite (including Sustainability Data Management, Building Ratings & Benchmarks, and Interval Meter Monitoring), Growthpoint centralized data capture, identified gaps and anomalies, applied accruals to missing consumption, and used dashboards and the GRESB API to automate reporting. The IBM Envizi deployment enabled historical Scope 3 data to be migrated in weeks rather than months, halved the time to complete the GRESB survey, allowed a single person to handle disclosures in 2022 (vs. double the time without Envizi), and made ESG data audit‑ready — supporting faster, data‑driven decisions and progress toward Growthpoint’s net zero and other sustainability targets.
