Municipal Parking Services (MPS) faced the challenge of analyzing the immense volume of data generated by its smart parking meters to find new value beyond simple enforcement. They partnered with IBM and the vendor Findability Sciences, whose Findability Platform is powered by IBM BigInsights, to gain insights from this data.
The solution, running on IBM SoftLayer cloud infrastructure, enabled MPS to rapidly analyze parking session data alongside external information like weather patterns. This transformation allowed MPS to unlock new commercial opportunities, such as targeted advertising and dynamic pricing, and resulted in achieving meaningful analytical results in less than ten days. IBM's technology provided the scalable analytics power needed to turn big data into actionable intelligence for smarter city planning.
