A IBM Case Study
BRD-Groupe Société Générale, the second largest bank in Romania, sought to reduce risk by addressing the weak link in online banking: the customer endpoint. The bank's security team, led by Chief Information Security Officer Mihai Andries, proactively looked for a solution to protect customers from malware and phishing attacks that could compromise their credentials, even though the bank had not yet experienced direct fraud losses from this channel.
IBM provided its advanced fraud protection solution, which included IBM Security Trusteer Rapport and IBM Security Trusteer Pinpoint Malware Detection software. The implementation allowed the bank to detect, block, and remediate threats on customer devices. The results included improved protection against emerging threats like the Dyre malware, a reduction in risk, and an increase in customer satisfaction. IBM's solutions also reduced the time staff spent on tracking and investigating threats.
