Real-time analytics helps share the moments that matter with tennis fans worldwide

Wimbledon Championships partnered with IBM to improve fan engagement during The Championships 2015 by using real-time match data. The AELTC needed to detect newsworthy events such as record serves and career milestones quickly, so IBM deployed an IBM Hybrid Cloud solution using technologies like InfoSphere Streams and SPSS Modeler to power analytics and alerts.

IBM’s solution analyzed live match streams and pushed instant notifications to the AELTC content team, allowing them to publish stories and social posts within seconds of events occurring. The IBM implementation let Wimbledon break news faster than competing media, driving increased traffic to wimbledon.com and its social platforms and markedly improving fan engagement.
