QNC GmbH wanted to make legal services more affordable for small businesses in Germany, but its lawyers spent too much time searching a large legal database and still needed to ensure accurate answers. The company turned to IBM and its Watson AI tools, including IBM Watson Knowledge Studio and IBM Watson Discovery, to support its new subscription-based Prime Legal service.

IBM helped QNC train its system to match client questions against a database of 180,000 previously answered legal inquiries, allowing lawyers to find relevant cases much faster. As a result, QNC cut legal research time by 40%, reduced research to about 10–15 minutes per case, and typically provided client answers in under an hour, while offering flat-rate legal advice for EUR 80 per month.
