A IBM Case Study
ARTESP, the São Paulo State Transport Agency, faced the challenge of proactively managing its vast, 6,400-kilometer road network. Without a clear view of real-time traffic and road conditions, it was difficult to prioritize maintenance and inspections, a process that was largely manual, time-consuming, and prone to error. To overcome this, the agency turned to vendor IBM for a solution.
IBM implemented its Intelligent Operations Center and Maximo Asset Management solutions to create a centralized traffic control system. This solution aggregates data from roadside sensors and cameras to provide a real-time dashboard, enabling ARTESP to identify issues from hours down to minutes. The results include improved road safety, smarter and faster decision-making for maintenance prioritization, and the ability to track contractor compliance, ultimately leading to more efficient use of public funds and safer travel for millions of citizens.
