NITORI, the Japanese furniture retailer, wanted to double the size of its business but found its five-year-old systems could no longer support expected growth or the approaching spring sales peak. To keep its manufacturing, logistics, and customer service operations running smoothly, NITORI turned to IBM and its Power Systems environment, including IBM Power Systems E980 and IBM DS8886F.

IBM worked with NITORI to deploy three IBM Power Systems E980 servers with POWER9 processors, migrate storage to the all-flash IBM DS8886F, and boost SAN speed from 8Gbps to 16Gbps. The result was a low-risk transition that accelerated deployment, increased capacity and performance for peak workloads and future expansion, and preserved existing investments while positioning NITORI for continued growth.
