20 Microns, a leading producer of ultrafine industrial minerals and specialty chemicals, needed to modernize its aging back-office systems as its SAP ECC environment neared end of support. The company wanted a stronger platform for moving to SAP S/4HANA, but its existing hardware lacked the power and performance to support the upgrade.

IBM, working through partner Silver Touch Technologies Ltd., implemented a new SAP S/4HANA environment on IBM Power Systems H922 servers with IBM FlashSystem storage, PowerVM virtualization, and IBM Spectrum Protect backup. The result was a more stable, highly available platform with clearer visibility into business operations, about a 60% reduction in processing time for some SAP tasks, and improved protection for critical data and operations.
