A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Port of Rotterdam Case Study

Port of Rotterdam partners with IBM® to digitalize its operations to improve efficiency and provide more value to clients

The Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port, partnered with IBM to digitalize operations and build a “Smart Infrastructure Platform” to support IoT use cases. The goal was to improve efficiency, deliver more value to clients, and move toward becoming the smartest port in the world, including autonomous shipping by 2030.

IBM implemented the first use case by replacing the existing hydro-meteo application with sensor data collected through Cisco IoX Edge routers and stored in the Watson IoT platform. IBM’s smart algorithms, streaming analytics, dashboards, and alerts turned this data into actionable insights, helping users monitor conditions more effectively and generate alarms for better operational response.
