A IBM Case Study
Orlando Health, a comprehensive not-for-profit healthcare network in Florida, needed to automate patient engagement and unlock data across its disparate clinical systems to meet its population health and value-based billing goals. Manually scanning millions of records or relying on outdated claims data was impractical. To overcome this, they turned to IBM and implemented the Watson Health platform.
IBM’s solution aggregated data from multiple electronic health records and automated key processes like identifying care gaps and conducting patient outreach. Using the Watson Health platform, Orlando Health reached 270,000 people, increased closed care gaps by 22%, and generated $6.6 million in shared savings from two ACO contracts in the first year. Additionally, the health system saw significant increases in preventive screenings for its patient population.
