PalaisPopulaire by Deutsche Bank helps visitors enjoy art interactively

PalaisPopulaire, the Deutsche Bank art space in Berlin, wanted to stay relevant with tech-savvy visitors by offering a more interactive museum experience. With IBM, it introduced Museum Intelligent Assistant (MIA) in its mobile app to help visitors explore exhibits at their own pace and get digital answers about the art.

IBM implemented MIA using IBM watsonx Assistant and IBM Cloudant on IBM Cloud, integrating it into the existing app to answer questions in real time about the “Time Present—Photography from the Deutsche Bank Collection” exhibit. The result was a first for Europe in AI-powered art education, with MIA handling more than 2,000 questions and receiving strong feedback from visitors and staff, while improving engagement and helping keep tours comfortable during COVID-19.
