NYPA advances VISION2030 strategy by moving fleet operations to the IBM Maximo system

New York Power Authority, the largest state public power organization in the US, was working toward its VISION2030 goal of becoming the nation’s first fully digital public power utility. While NYPA already used IBM Maximo for enterprise asset management, its Fleet Department still relied on separate software, limiting real-time visibility into vehicle availability, status, and history across its operations.

IBM, working with business partner Starboard Consulting, integrated fleet management into IBM Maximo for Transportation and standardized processes across NYPA’s fleet. The rollout gave employees real-time access to about 1,600 vehicles, improved planning and maintenance visibility, and helped reduce downtime and costs while boosting productivity and supporting NYPA’s digitization and clean-energy goals.
