A IBM Case Study
Norsk helsenett, Norway’s healthcare infrastructure provider, needed to replace its aging storage environment to support critical, 24x7 healthcare ICT services with higher requirements for security, performance, and availability. The organization also wanted to reduce rising support and expansion costs while preparing for future growth, and it chose IBM FlashSystem 9500 as the new storage platform.
IBM implemented IBM FlashSystem 9500 across four data centers and helped guide the migration with IBM Expert Labs. The results were significant: rack space dropped from 336U to 16U, power use fell from 32 kW to 6.8 kW, and NHN cut annual power costs by about NOK 500,000 and maintenance costs by about NOK 2 million. IBM also helped improve resilience, encryption, and sustainability through features like always-on encryption and high data reduction.
