The KLM Open, a long-running European golf tournament, faced the challenge of enhancing the live experience for fans to encourage event attendance over watching at home. Lacking the necessary infrastructure and expertise, the organization partnered with vendor IBM to develop a new, interactive mobile application.

Using the IBM MobileFirst Platform, IBM Cloud Services, and Bluemix, IBM created a solution that provided real-time GPS tracking of players, live scoring, and interactive maps. This new app, developed by IBM, was downloaded 7,500 times in three days and drove a 25% increase in mobile usage, successfully boosting fan engagement during the live tournament.
