Millions of trucks connected with an enhanced Internet of Vehicles platform
TransWiseway Information Technology Co. Ltd., a Beijing-based developer of transportation information systems, faced a government mandate to connect millions of trucks to its Internet of Vehicles (IoV) platform. Their challenge was to scale the platform to support 10 million simultaneously connected vehicles and manage the massive influx of data. To meet this demand, they partnered with IBM and leveraged IBM MobileFirst Platform, IBM MessageSight, and IBM Software Services for WebSphere.
IBM's solution enhanced TransWiseway's IoV platform to collect and analyze real-time data from vehicles, providing insights on traffic, weather, and safety through web and mobile interfaces. This implementation allowed IBM to help TransWiseway become China's largest IoV platform, scaling from 300,000 to over 10 million connected vehicles and expanding its coverage to 34 provinces. The platform generated new revenue streams through third-party app development and increased public safety by alerting drivers to hazardous conditions.
