A IBM Case Study
Migros Zürich, part of the Migros cooperative network, needed to keep SAP Retail and related finance, controlling, and HR systems running smoothly while growing data volumes and fixed backup windows were putting pressure on operations. Working with IBM and its partner Bechtle, the company also wanted a more resilient, cost-efficient infrastructure across its two data centers.
IBM implemented IBM Power10 servers in an IBM Power Enterprise Pools 2.0 setup, along with IBM Storage Protect and a redesigned backup and disaster recovery architecture. The result was a more stable and flexible SAP platform that cut active cores from 212 to 40, improved availability, and reduced costs, power consumption, and CO2 emissions; during a three-month peak period, only 10 additional capacity credits were needed.
