Major retailer chooses IBM for savings, resiliency and sustainability

Salling Group, one of the EU’s largest retailers with more than 1,500 stores across four countries, needed a powerful ERP infrastructure to handle more than nine million daily transactions. The company also wanted to keep costs low, reduce downtime, and support sustainability goals, so it turned to IBM for support.

IBM implemented an SAP ERP environment running on IBM Db2 for SAP, IBM POWER8 servers, and IBM Global Technology Services. The solution delivered about USD 520,000 in annual savings, increased SAP performance benchmarks by 100%, kept downtime to under two hours in 2019, and allowed Salling Group to reuse 96% of its POWER stack after the upgrade.
