Case Study: Lion achieves faster disclosure and cuts 12 days of manual reporting with IBM Cognos Disclosure Management (IBM)

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Lion Case Study

Lion accelerates disclosure management and reduces risk

Lion, one of Australia and New Zealand’s leading food and beverage companies, needed to transform its finance function from a transactional business partner into a value creator but was held back by a labour‑intensive “last mile” reporting process—42 schedules in separate Excel files, manual copy‑paste, lengthy cross‑checks and reporting cycles of eight weeks (eleven at year‑end) that required overtime and temporary staff. To deliver a fast, visible win for its finance transformation, Lion partnered with IBM and selected IBM Cognos Disclosure Management.

IBM implemented Cognos Disclosure Management (with implementation support from BMA) to tag output files to source data, automate updates, and provide workflow and audit trails; the solution went live within six weeks. As a result, Lion cut about two days of manual work per each of six reporting team members (≈12 person‑days per quarter), eliminated overtime and the need for two temporary hires, improved transparency and control, and freed the finance team to focus on analysis and insights.
