A IBM Case Study
Phact B.V., a telecommunications service provider, needed to accelerate its big data analytics to help its clients quickly resolve network service issues. The challenge was that replicating data to a separate Microsoft SQL Server database for analysis introduced delays, making operational data unavailable for up to a minute and limiting the performance of complex queries for their clients' network operating centers.
IBM addressed this by implementing its DB2 with BLU Acceleration software. Phact migrated its analytics applications to this solution, enabling clients to run high-speed analytics on the same database as online transactions. The results were dramatic: analytics became up to 160 times faster, reducing query times from 24 minutes to 9 seconds. IBM DB2 also simplified the architecture, cut the database size by over 60%, and provided real-time insight without increasing costs.
