Carter Machinery, a US construction equipment retailer, faced increasing competition and needed better insight into customer needs to reduce churn. To address this, Carter Machinery worked with IBM, deploying IBM SPSS Modeler software as part of an IBM Hybrid Cloud solution to gain deeper analytics and customer understanding.
IBM implemented predictive analytics and a customer profile system (bronze, silver, gold) using SPSS Modeler to predict when customers would be most approachable and to deliver actionable insights to marketing teams. As a result, Carter Machinery reduced its churn rate, improved response rates, and better targeted its marketing spend, strengthening retention strategies and its competitive position with IBM’s solution.
