LegalMation helps legal teams draft high-quality litigation work in minutes

LegalMation, an AI startup serving law firms and corporate legal teams, was created to help legal professionals reduce the time and cost of drafting early-stage litigation responses. As the legal industry faced tighter budgets and pressure for greater efficiency, LegalMation turned to IBM and its Watson Discovery and cloud-based AI tools to build a solution that could automate routine legal work.

Using IBM Watson Discovery, IBM Watson Knowledge Studio, IBM Watson Natural Language Understanding, and IBM Cloud, LegalMation trained a domain-specific model on thousands of complaints and responses. The result was a platform that can draft early-phase response documents in two minutes or less, cutting a process that often took 6–10 hours and reducing costs by an estimated 80%. IBM also helped accelerate deployment through the Watson ecosystem and With Watson program.
