Keeping the lights on and public transport moving

rku.it GmbH, a private cloud provider serving municipal utilities, public transport, and local government clients, needed a highly reliable and cost-efficient infrastructure to run mission-critical SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA workloads while keeping pace with growing demand, compliance requirements, and pressure to control costs. To support these essential services, rku.it turned to IBM Power and related IBM technologies to modernize its private cloud platform.

IBM implemented IBM Power servers with IBM PowerVM virtualization, alongside automation tools such as Red Hat Ansible, to improve consolidation, scalability, and availability. The results included provisioning new SAP HANA instances three times faster, reducing hardware failure risk from two incidents per year to zero, cutting database administrators by 50%, and lowering system administration effort to about one-third of previous levels.
