Keeping fans on the ball with new insight into every shot

The All England Lawn Tennis Club, organizer of the Wimbledon Championships, faced the challenge of engaging a global audience during a crowded sporting summer. To maintain its prestige and win fans' attention, Wimbledon partnered with vendor IBM to use analytics, cloud, mobile, and social technologies to reveal the untold stories behind each match and create a more immersive digital experience.

The solution implemented by IBM included real-time, shot-by-shot match analysis and a Social Command Centre powered by IBM Watson and IBM SoftLayer. This provided new insights into player performance and helped tailor content to fan interests. As a result, vendor IBM helped achieve a 17% increase in website and mobile visits, a 9% increase in page views, and an average user session exceeding ten minutes, significantly boosting global fan engagement.
