John Lewis & Partners uplifts operations with IBM Sterling Order Management system

John Lewis & Partners, the UK’s largest employee-owned retailer, needed to replace its end-of-support IBM Sterling Order Management system with a more scalable, cloud-based solution to meet rising customer and operational demands across its stores and e-commerce channels. The company wanted to maintain service quality while modernizing its order management infrastructure.

IBM, working with Cognizant, helped John Lewis & Partners migrate from an on-premises IBM Sterling Order Management 9.4 environment to the SaaS version, while keeping uninterrupted operations. The project migrated 5.7 million closed orders and about 170,000 in-flight orders in three months, cut production release time from 4 weeks to 2 weeks, and automated roughly 95% of APIs for daily regression testing.
