Istituto Secoli, a historic fashion institute in Italy, wanted to help students move beyond shallow online research and develop stronger, more original collection concepts. To tackle this challenge, the school partnered with IBM and used IBM watsonx to explore how AI could support students during the concept creation phase.

IBM and Istituto Secoli developed CreativIA, an AI-powered tool built with watsonx.ai, watsonx.data, and IBM Cloud Code Engine. The solution helped students expand initial ideas and search a curated resource base more effectively; in testing, 65% of student research used the tool’s core features, 85% of students were satisfied, and 100% of participants found it valuable, showing measurable impact on creativity and workflow efficiency.
