Autostrade per l’Italia, one of Europe’s largest toll motorway operators, needed to modernize its legacy on-premises infrastructure to support growing operational demands, improve safety, and accelerate digital transformation. The company relied on IBM Maximo for asset management and turned to IBM Consulting to help upgrade to IBM Maximo Application Suite and move to a cloud-based environment.

IBM implemented a cloud migration to AWS using Terraform automation, Kubernetes-based containerization, and integrated applications, databases, workflows, reports, and APIs. As a result, Autostrade now monitors over 700,000 components in real time and digitally manages 4,000 bridges, viaducts, and flyovers, improving scalability, automation, asset visibility, inspection accuracy, and maintenance decision-making.
