Improving retail promotions using IBM MobileFirst for iOS apps from the cloud

Migros engaged IBM to modernize promotion operations for its M‑Industry unit after a growing team of roughly 300 promoters and eight field managers struggled with ad hoc, manual scheduling and communication. The customer required a cloud-based, easy-to-use mobile solution — IBM was selected to deliver IBM MobileFirst for iOS apps running on the IBM Bluemix platform to standardize and simplify promotional workflows.

IBM deployed Apple iPad-based apps (IBM MobileFirst for iOS Shift Sync and Market Visit plus a custom TMI Visits app), integrated them with Migros’s back end, and provided device procurement and ongoing mobile management. The result: faster rollout (first app in eight weeks), standardized mobile workflows that improved promoter training and engagement, increased field and back-office productivity, and higher-quality retail promotions while enabling existing staff to handle a larger workload.
