Improving pharma supply chain visibility for patient safety

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) needed a faster, easier way to support Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) compliance and improve transparency across the prescription drug supply chain. NABP turned to IBM Consulting to help create a secure, user-friendly, and interoperable digital hub that could connect manufacturers, wholesalers, dispensaries, and regulators.

IBM helped NABP launch Pulse, a blockchain-based platform on AWS that lets users track ownership transactions, search and verify trading partners, exchange digital credentials, and perform electronic tracing through API integrations. The result was a more visible and trusted supply chain, with over a dozen major solution providers already signed up to the Pulse Interoperable Partner program, helping reduce manual work and simplify DSCSA compliance.
