IBM Watson Health helps Orlando Health build a clinically integrated network to help promote a healthier community

Orlando Health, a 1,780‑bed not‑for‑profit health system in Central Florida, needed to move to value‑based care but lacked a way to aggregate patient data across disparate EHRs and to automate patient outreach and engagement. To meet population health and ACO requirements it partnered with IBM, implementing the IBM Watson Health platform (including IBM Phytel Outreach, Coordinate, Remind and Transition) to unlock clinical data and scale automated patient engagement.

IBM’s Watson Health platform acted as a pseudo‑HIE to consolidate records, build registries, automate outreach and reminders, and support shared medical appointments; using these IBM solutions Orlando Health reached ~270,000 lives, closed care gaps 22% more often and achieved measurable clinical gains (HbA1c testing +7%, mammograms +10%, colorectal screening +9%, falls‑risk screening +15%, depression screening +10%). The program also delivered $6.6 million in shared savings from two ACO contracts and consolidated risk reporting through the Watson Health platform.
