Case Study: CLAI Payments Technologies achieves secure cloud-based payments with IBM Power Virtual Server

IBM Business Partners CLAI Payments and FNTS collaborate to bring encryption as a service to IBM Power Virtual Server

CLAI Payments Technologies, an IBM business partner serving financial institutions and retailers across the Americas, wanted to take its AZ7 payment platform to the cloud without sacrificing the high security, availability, and compliance needed by banks. The company needed a way to run on IBM i in a cloud environment while preserving encrypted processing and avoiding costly outages or additional hardware.

IBM worked with CLAI Payments and FNTS to deploy AZ7 on IBM Power Virtual Server in IBM Cloud, while FNTS provided remotely consumed cryptography from dedicated IBM i infrastructure with IBM crypto cards. The solution launched in January 2023 and enabled several customers to run the encrypted platform on IBM Cloud; a stress test for a major customer in Chile ran smoothly and faster than targeted. IBM’s collaboration also helped create a new encryption as a service offering and a new business unit for CLAI Payments.
