Case Study: Piazza dei Mestieri improves digital learning access and data security with IBM FlashSystem 5200

IBM and Fondazione Piazza dei Mestieri working together to offer young people equal opportunities in study and employment

Piazza dei Mestieri, a foundation focused on vocational training and youth inclusion, needed a way to keep students connected to learning during lockdowns while reducing the digital divide across its locations. To support remote and hybrid teaching and simplify management across its centers, Piazza dei Mestieri turned to IBM and its virtual desktop infrastructure, backed by IBM FlashSystem storage.

IBM implemented IBM FlashSystem 5200 with NVMe IBM FlashCore Modules and a second FlashSystem 5200 using IBM Safeguarded Copy for resilience and rapid recovery. The result was high-performance, secure storage for VDI and administrative applications, with a 3% attendance increase during lockdown, classrooms that can now be set up in about an hour instead of days, and stronger data security and operational efficiency.
