A IBM Case Study
Iberdrola, a global renewable energy leader, needed a better way to manage procurement and supplier relationships while advancing ambitious sustainability goals. Its customized on-premises SRM system was costly to maintain, hard to update, and lacked governance and sustainability scoring capabilities, making it difficult for Iberdrola to keep up with procurement demands and ESG targets. IBM helped Iberdrola move to SAP Ariba in the cloud.
IBM Consulting implemented and configured SAP Ariba Source-to-Contract and Procure-to-Order, integrated a supplier sustainability scoring tool, and supported guided buying and standardized catalogs across the business. The result was a fully digitized procurement process with better governance, faster contracting, and reduced manual work; Iberdrola migrated its legacy SRM system in under a year, now runs over 9,000 sourcing projects with more than 20,000 suppliers, and expects to expand to 200+ catalogs, generating significant savings and stronger sustainability oversight.
