Case Study: Georgian State Electrosystem achieves faster, more transparent electricity trading with IBM

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Georgian State Electrosystem Case Study

How Georgian State Electrosystem and IBM are using open-source, cloud-native process automation to drive efficiency and innovation in the European energy sector

Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) needed to modernize its legacy energy trading processes to support near real-time transaction handling and align with EU and ENTSO-e regulations as it pursued certification as a European Transmission Systems Operator. The state-owned utility partnered with IBM, using IBM Process Automation Manager Open Edition and IBM Instana, alongside Red Hat technologies, to build a new market trading platform.

IBM helped GSE launch the Energy Market Participants platform with open-source, cloud-native process automation and integrated connectivity to existing ERP and billing systems. The new solution enabled transactions to be processed and reconciled in minutes instead of two months, improved transparency for regulators and auditors, reduced project cost, and helped GSE go live on schedule.
