A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Dana Incorporated Case Study

How Dana simplified its EDI environment using IBM technologies

Dana Incorporated, a global leader in propulsion and energy-management technologies, was under pressure to simplify a highly complex EDI environment while supporting rapid growth, multiple ERP systems, and strict cybersecurity and cloud-migration goals. To connect suppliers and customers worldwide, Dana turned to IBM and IBM Sterling B2B Integration SaaS on IBM Cloud, along with IBM Sterling Connect:Direct.

IBM implemented a single cloud-based EDI platform that consolidated Dana’s network, automated translation and transmission of EDI and flat-file data, and reduced the company’s reliance on multiple translators and legacy systems. The results included managing 38 plants with no outages, cutting ERP systems from 50 to 4, and processing more than 225,000 EDI transactions and 3.1 million kilo-characters each month, with growth expected to rise significantly as the migration completes.
