A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Kilroy Blockchain Case Study

Helping secure data truth and authenticity with Blockchain and AI

Kilroy Blockchain saw an opportunity to help blind and visually impaired smartphone users better understand their surroundings, especially younger users who often had to rely on others for descriptions. Working with IBM, the company used AI and blockchain technologies to build applications like Riley, a tool designed to improve daily independence.

IBM implemented Watson Visual Recognition and Watson Text to Speech to let Riley capture an image, analyze it, and speak a description back to the user. The result is an accessible app that provides spoken environmental guidance and has the potential to improve the quality of life of millions of blind and visually impaired people by making them more independent.
