Health giant builds a sustainable hybrid cloud IT architecture with SAP S/4HANA and the IBM® Power® platform

Pfizer, one of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical companies, needed to modernize its global IT environment to support mission-critical SAP workloads, reduce complexity, and keep vital medicines moving to patients quickly. The company turned to IBM and its IBM Power platform, along with SAP S/4HANA, to help build a sustainable hybrid cloud architecture for its large-scale digital transformation.

IBM implemented IBM Consulting, IBM Rapid Move for SAP S/4HANA, IBM Power10, PowerVM, and IBM Power Virtual Server to migrate Pfizer’s SAP systems and optimize operations. The results included a reduction of the ERP database from 75 TB to about 5.5 TB, migration of more than 46 TB of data 10 hours faster than planned, support for about 50,000 users, and improved efficiency with a 5% better order-to-cash cycle time and 20% forecasted cost avoidance for new projects.
