A IBM Case Study
Portland State University needed more user-friendly and flexible business intelligence tools to support campus operations like scheduling, enrollment, budgeting, and reporting for about 1,500 Cognos users. Working with IBM and its Cognos Analytics platform, PSU sought to improve the look, feel, and usability of its analytics environment while keeping its existing reporting infrastructure intact.
IBM implemented an on-premises upgrade to IBM Cognos Analytics over nine months, adding customizable dashboards, improved search, self-service data upload, and more detailed geolocation analysis. The transition was smooth with minimal disruption, and users responded positively to the new interface and features. The upgrade reduced troubleshooting effort and opened up new ways to analyze data, helping PSU staff work more efficiently and better support students.
