Going paperless to support top-notch customer service and unlock massive efficiency gains

Banco Galicia, one of Argentina’s largest private banks, faced sluggish paper-based processes that slowed responses to customers and threatened its competitive position. Working with IBM (and partners Sofrecom and LP y Asociados SRL), the bank adopted IBM hybrid cloud and enterprise content management solutions — including IBM Datacap Capture, IBM FileNet Content Manager, IBM Blueworks Live and IBM Operational Decision Manager — to digitize customer documents and redesign workflows.

IBM implemented a paperless platform that scans and indexes roughly 264,000 documents per month, uses IBM Datacap to classify and trigger workflows in IBM Business Automation Workflow, and delivers fast access via IBM Content Navigator. As a result, Banco Galicia shortened branch-to-central processing from days to minutes, cut response time for some credit requests by up to 24 hours, can stand up new digital processes in about 40 hours, and achieved measurable efficiency gains, faster customer service and reduced document-management costs thanks to the IBM solution.
