Generating million-dollar cost savings by improving the performance and utilization of assets

Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), a large global construction firm, faced intense pressure to cut costs and boost efficiency following the 2008 economic crisis and the arrival of new competitors. To address the challenge of poor visibility into its vast equipment assets and their associated maintenance and operational costs, CCC partnered with vendor IBM and its IBM Business Partners to implement the IBM Maximo for Transportation asset management solution.

The IBM solution provided CCC with real-time visibility into the status, location, and costs of its equipment, enabling smarter deployment and a shift to predictive maintenance. This implementation by IBM reduced operational expenditure per asset by $1,100 and contributed to total annual savings exceeding $15 million by improving asset utilization, minimizing project delays, and extending equipment lifespan.
