Future Group optimizes energy consumption with a Watson IoT solution

Future Group, a large retail group with more than 1,500 stores across India, wanted to cut its carbon footprint and better manage rising energy costs as it expanded. The company turned to IBM Services and an IoT- and AI-based approach to gain a holistic view of electricity consumption across its mix of legacy and new stores.

IBM implemented a “Green Store” platform using IBM TRIRIGA Building Insights, Watson IoT, Big Data, and analytics to enable real-time monitoring, centralized energy management, and automated alerts. The solution was expected to deliver a 10% reduction in annual energy costs, lower carbon emissions, reduce equipment failures through improved maintenance, and enhance the customer experience.
