Case Study: Coop Group achieves near real-time retail inventory insight with IBM Power Systems and SAP HANA

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Coop Group Case Study

Fostering innovation with near real-time retail inventory management using SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems

Coop Group, one of Switzerland’s largest retail groups, needed to support an expanding omnichannel shopping strategy with click-and-collect services while keeping inventory information accurate and near real time. The company also wanted to handle rapid data growth, improve planning, and speed up delivery of new digital services using SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems.

IBM helped Coop Group migrate SAP Customer Activity Repository and SAP Business Warehouse to SAP HANA running on IBM Power System E880 servers with PowerVM virtualization and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications. The result was five times faster inventory analytics, 85% fewer processor cores for one workload, 50% less physical footprint, and up to 20x faster SAP HANA provisioning, giving Coop Group more agility and better inventory planning.
