A IBM Case Study

Preview of the FlightSafety International Case Study

FlightSafety revolutionizes pilot training with data and AI

FlightSafety International, a professional aviation training company, wanted to improve pilot training quality and speed up training throughput as demand for new pilots surged. Working with IBM, the company aimed to use flight simulator data to identify how pilots perform, spot different flying styles, and move beyond a one-size-fits-all syllabus approach.

IBM helped FlightSafety co-create FlightSmart through the IBM Garage™ model, combining AI, machine learning, and real-time analytics to monitor more than 4,000 simulator variables. The result was a dashboard and adaptive learning system that gave instructors and students clearer performance insights, enabled personalized coaching, and improved speed to competency; FlightSmart was successfully deployed at a U.S. Air Force base in Columbus, Mississippi.
