A IBM Case Study
A government agency in Morocco partnered with PowerM and IBM to modernize its long-running IBM WebSphere environment, which had not been updated for years and was increasingly limited by technical debt, security concerns, and the need to support mission-critical public services. As part of a broader e-government initiative, the agency wanted a more secure, reliable, API-ready foundation for faster service delivery and future microservices innovation.
PowerM and IBM implemented IBM WebSphere Liberty with IBM Semeru Runtimes on IBM LinuxONE, using IBM Cloud Pak for Applications and IBM Cloud Transformation Advisor to assess and modernize the platform. The agency consolidated four x86 servers onto one IBM LinuxONE server, achieved almost a 12:1 licensing cost reduction, and has run 35 mission-critical applications with 100% availability and zero unplanned downtime for two years, while also strengthening its security posture with EAL5+ certification on IBM LinuxONE.
