Engine Informática offers SAP software as a service with IBM

Engine Informática, a Brazilian IT consulting firm, wanted to offer SAP ERP solutions to small and medium-sized businesses. The high infrastructure costs of traditional on-premise SAP deployments were a major barrier to entry for this market segment. The company's challenge was to develop a way to provide these services at a much lower, more attractive price point without requiring large capital expenditures from its customers.

To solve this, Engine Informática partnered with IBM to create a hosted SAP software-as-a-service solution. The infrastructure, built on IBM Power Systems servers and IBM System Storage and managed by IBM Global Technology Services, provided the required high availability and security. This IBM solution enabled Engine Informática to cut overhead costs for a 600-user system by 50 percent and offer SAP services at approximately half the typical per-user cost, successfully opening up a significant new market.
