Case Study: Cerner achieves real-time operational analytics and improved IT performance with IBM Hybrid Cloud (IBM Streams)

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Cerner Case Study

Enabling analysis of operational data at greater speed and depth

Cerner Corporation, a healthcare technology provider, needed to rapidly identify and address IT performance issues and build predictive models to ensure clinicians have reliable, always-available systems. To meet this challenge Cerner worked with IBM, adopting IBM Hybrid Cloud technology and specifically IBM Streams to improve the speed and accuracy of operational analytics.

IBM implemented IBM Streams to ingest data from Cerner’s Apache Kafka pipeline and apply real-time algorithms to each record, allowing Cerner to detect and act on performance issues far faster. The IBM solution eliminated a prior 18–24 month turnaround for production code changes, reduced integration effort by using out‑of‑the‑box connectors, boosted IT performance, and provided clinicians with near‑real‑time patient insights.
