Asan Medical Center wanted to become a Smart Hospital by improving operational efficiency and patient service, but its manual bed allocation and inpatient reservation processes were time-consuming and burdened staff. IBM Services worked with Asan Medical Center using the IBM Garage™ methodology and intelligent automation to redesign these workflows.

IBM implemented automated bed allocation and related RPA tasks such as inpatient registration, reservation changes, and cancellations. The result was 0% error rate in bed allocation for 35 departments handling nearly 55% of admitted patients, beds assigned up to 20 minutes faster, and about 3 hours saved per staff member each day.
