Developing a new app that enables drivers and fleet planners to share warnings about hazards

Scania IT, the technology division of the Scania automotive group, wanted to improve communication between its logistics customers' drivers and fleet planners to enhance safety and reduce operational costs. They partnered with IBM to understand IoT technology and develop a new application that would enable real-time hazard warnings and coordination.

IBM implemented a solution using its IBM MessageSight appliance to support the secure, low-latency messaging required for the mobile application. The resulting IoT platform allowed drivers to share warnings about road hazards and damaged goods, and enabled fleet owners to communicate changes efficiently. The solution helped Scania's customers operate more safely and efficiently, saving money and providing Scania with a competitive edge through early IoT adoption.
